Comprehensive Sensory Assessment

Plus travel and mileage costs where applicable outside the local area.

 

A detailed, multi-setting assessment designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of a child's sensory processing profile and the impact this may have on emotional regulation, behaviour, learning, participation and everyday functioning.

 

Assessment Components

 

• Standardised sensory assessment questionnaires:

                 Sensory Processing Measure (SPM)

                 Adolescent/Adult Sensory History (where appropriate)

• Qualitative questionnaires for parents and school staff

• Virtual parent interview and developmental history gathering

• Home observation visit

• School observation visit

• Clinic-based assessment session

• Analysis of sensory processing across all sensory systems

• Consideration of attachment, developmental trauma and survival-based responses where relevant ​

Written Report

A comprehensive report including:

• Detailed developmental and family history

• Analysis of sensory processing strengths and difficulties

• Functional impact on home, school and community participation

• Consideration of attachment and trauma-related factors where appropriate

• Identification of priorities for intervention and support

• Detailed recommendations, including sensory strategies for home, school and everyday life

• EHCP-specific recommendations where required

Targeted Sensory Assessment

Charged at £105 per hour

 

Targeted Sensory Assessments typically require approximately 6–8 hours of professional time, including preparation, questionnaire analysis, parent consultation, clinic assessment, report writing and recommendations. The final cost will depend upon the complexity of the presentation and any additional assessment components requested, but will be agreed in advance.

A flexible and cost-effective assessment designed to explore specific sensory processing concerns, identify key areas of need and provide guidance regarding appropriate support and intervention.

The assessment can be tailored according to the child's needs and family requirements.

 

Standard Components

• Sensory Processing Measure (SPM) questionnaire

• Qualitative parent questionnaires and sensory history information

• Virtual parent consultation

• Clinic-based assessment session (typically approximately one hour)

• Analysis of sensory processing strengths and difficulties

Written Report

A concise report including:

• Relevant background information

• Summary of sensory processing profile

• Identification of key areas of sensory difficulty

• Practical recommendations, including sensory strategies and suggested next steps where appropriate

Which Assessment Is Right for My Child?

A Comprehensive Sensory Assessment is generally recommended when there has been no previous assessments, difficulties are complex, occur across multiple settings, or when detailed evidence and recommendations are required for educational planning, EHCP processes or wider intervention planning.

 

A Targeted Sensory Assessment may be appropriate when families would like a focused exploration of specific concerns, require information to guide intervention planning, or would benefit from a more flexible assessment approach that can be tailored to their circumstances.

 

In many situations, a Targeted Sensory Assessment may provide sufficient information to support applications for therapeutic services or inform ongoing intervention planning etc, whilst offering a more cost-effective alternative to a comprehensive multi-setting assessment.
