Our Services
Sensory Integration Therapy
At Happy Senses, we specialise in sensory integration therapy for children dealing with developmental trauma and sensory challenges. Our therapy sessions provide a safe and nurturing space for children to explore and regulate their sensory experiences under the guidance of our expert therapists.
Initial Consultation – In person
I offer an initial consultation session at a special, reduced price (1 hour consultation). The purpose of this initial consultation is to allow me to conduct a basic assessment to determine if further assessment or therapy is required. It also allows me to advise on simple strategies etc. which may help you and your child.
Specialist Sensory Assessment
A specialist sensory assessment consists of in depth interview/history of developmental, social and educational development, standardised sensory assessment (usually the Sensory Processing Measure or AASH, but sometimes if appropriate/necessary other tools may be utilised) and structured and non-structured clinical observations. All assessments are conducted both at home and at school/nursery as appropriate to assess fully the child’s needs in all environments. The cost of this assessment includes the provision of an in-depth report detailing results of the assessments, analysis and recommendations, in addition to an individualised sensory strategies programme. It also includes a follow up meeting if required to discuss these findings.
Individualised Treatment and Intervention
Following assessment, I can offer individualised treatment and intervention as appropriate. Discounts for advance block bookings are available. An additional cost to cover travel time and mileage costs may apply, if services are required at a location other than at the Happy Senses clinic space.
Parent Support Services - Virtual
I offer 1:1 parent support sessions aimed at supporting parents to understand their child’s behaviours from an attachment, trauma and sensory perspective. In order to change ‘unwanted’ behaviours, we need to know what the underlying cause of the behaviour is. With children who have experienced developmental trauma, it can be tricky to work out if behaviours are driven by attachment or sensory needs (or both), as the behaviours can often look the same. I can support you to understand why your child is behaving as they are, and how best to respond and support them, using therapeutic parenting techniques and sensory strategies as appropriate.
Training Packages - In person or virtual
I offer training packages aimed at pre-school, primary and secondary school settings to support staff working with children with sensory processing difficulties and/or developmental trauma. I can also provide training packages aimed at parent groups, children’s centre staff, adoption/fostering agencies or other interested parties. Training packages cover a basic introduction to Sensory Integration, the senses, how sensory integration dysfunction can affect children and simple sensory strategies. Training packages on attachment and developmental trauma are also available. Training packages can also be tailored to specific requirements on request.
